Maynooth College
The horizontal Trumpet at Maynooth College.
Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
This 1899 organ by Geroge \Benson was originally in Strabane, Co. Tyrone.......relocated to Clonmel in 1999 by Stephen.
Achill Island
Myself with Mr. Tim Stevenson at Achill Island. The organ was relocated by us from Crossmolina where it was owned by Bishop Richard Henderson
Achill Island
Conveyancing.......tricky stuff in this instance.
Blackrock Presbyterian......
......one of the instruments we maintain......this gorgeous organ by Benson. It has the most beautiful 16' Gamba......that's it on the front.....the promptness of speech is incredible.
A series of photos......
....outlining the restoration of a soundboard. This particular one is from Cahir, Co. Tipperary. Here we can see light from behind the plane, showing a dip in the table.
Again......
.....we check for level.
A photo......
......showing the table top minus bearers.
Splits......
....clearly visible when a light is placed behind.
Shooting......
....the table in order to true it up.
Deepening......
....the grooves to accommodate the removed material which was planed off.
Re-applying.......
....graphite to ensure things run smoothly.
The table, finished product.
And an image with the slides fitted.
This is the lower side of the soundboard......
......visible is the leather which covers the grid. Also visible are the huge bleed holes, presumably punched in absolute desperation to alleviate whimpers and ciphers.
This shows the bars......
....getting flooded with glue in order to seal between the table and the bars. We chose modern white glue in this instance owing to the extremely bad state of the table......we needed to seal cracks.
Pallets......
....are treated to fresh new leather and new phosphor-bronze pull-downs. (Original pull-downs were steel, which rusts, of course).
And finally.......
.....the pull-downs are terminated outside the soundboard. These will later be connected to trackers. This organ can be heard here on soundcloud.......St. Mary's Parish Church, Cahir, Co. Tipperary.
Damage......
......as a result of over-heating, causing low humidity. Here we can see cracks in the table top.
Here's the same soundboard......
......seen from the end.
And.......
.......not only did the table crack, but the whole thing got distorted. Here you can see a desperate attempt to relieve the slides which were jamming.
Bailieborough
This nice little organ received a facelift with Royal Blue front pipes with gilding to the mouths.
DIT
DIT Rathmines. New coverings to the keyboards. The old ones had black naturals and white sharps. Owing to the heavy use to this organ the naturals were heavily worn and cupped. My thanks to Dr. David Mooney (DIT Head of Keyboard) for his continued support.
Mullingar
One of the organs in our care; the fine Compton in Mullingar.
Prof. Gerard Gillen.......
.......(Titilar Organist at Pro-Cathedral, Dublin) at the console in Corpus Christi, Drumcondra.
Harmoniums.......
.......we have a working knowledge of harmoniums. Here is one we re-homed recently.
St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trim
Concertina wind trunk shown with bellows risen (organ running). NB how the lower 4 ribs collapse but not the top one........simply because there's more weight on the lower ones.
St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trim
Concertina wind trunk shown with bellows down (organ off).
Checking start-up characteristics of organ transformer/rectifier......what we were seeking was a nice clean start-up, which is exactly what we found in this case.
